Self-ish | Original LexKittenArts Art Print
Sometimes the people who benefit most from your self-sacrifice are the first to call you “selfish” when you begin setting boundaries.
I painted this piece during a season when I was made to feel guilty for choosing my own peace, protecting my energy, and prioritizing my well-being. At the time, I questioned myself. Looking back now, I realize I wasn’t being selfish—I was learning self-respect.
The rainbow braids represent growth through every emotion. The mason jar symbolizes pouring back into yourself after giving too much away, while the soft watercolor background reflects the calm that comes when you stop apologizing for healing.
This piece is a reminder that self-care isn’t selfish. It’s how we become whole enough to show up authentically for ourselves and the people we love.
Printed with archival-quality inks for vibrant, lasting color, each LexKittenArts print is available in multiple sizes and premium paper finishes, making it a meaningful addition to bedrooms, studios, wellness spaces, therapy offices, or anywhere that deserves a daily reminder to choose yourself.
“You are not selfish for protecting the person you’re becoming.”
